As we are living in the digital world, people are get more benefit because there are a lot of facilities that easy use for people’s work, such as Internet, I-Pad, I-Pod, Blackberry, and other than that. But somehow the irresponsible people are misuse of the facilities and take that as their ‘playground’. Today, we already have many networking site such as Facebook, Twitter, Urban Twitter, Taggged, Myspace and many more. These are the entire networking site that people can connect and know each other all over the world. Sometimes the social networking site can be good, sometimes can be bad.
The good of all of this kind of networking site that we can know other’s culture by be friends from people in other country, meet up again our lost friends such as schoolmates, colleges, family and many more. Such as Facebook, people can also promote their businesses as for make profit, and also update and promote events, and also people can chat with their friends. As Facebook was launched by Mark Zuckerberg, this website has reached about million people all over the world. They believe that Facebook can give the benefit for them and are more exciting compared to the other social networking site.
Based from the article about online friend who raped a 17 years old girl, which as known as Pankaj Mishra, and the girl is Rosy (name changed), they know each other through social networking site which is Facebook. But the problem is, they never meet each other before even they’re in the same colleges. After chatting in the Facebook and hanging out together as they help each other for their projects, its fine because they didn’t do the bad things. But then the girls lodged a police claimed that Mishra raped her at knife-point, and kept her locked for one night on July 21, 2010. It started when the victim told Mishra that she had to complete one project, and Mishra had offered her to do that project in his home, and the victim said Mishra forced her to stay back and threatened to hurt her with a knife.
They’re only known each other for one month and the girl are very brave to do her project at Mishra home. She did not think what may happen and the risk of doing that at Mishra home. She may think that anything wouldn’t happen and that’s why she agrees to go to Mishra home. This is the risk for her and for everybody that misuse the networking site because they did not know each other for a long time and easy to get. Then, because of her trust of Mishra, she has been rape as she claimed to the police. And the police said this case is pre-meditated crime because the victim said Mishra has a condom. The case are being difficult after Mishra father told the police that night, the entire family was present at home, at the time of the alleged rape, and he said the girl is framing his son. This case show that people must use the social networking site with ethics, and did not simply hang out with the unknown person, and know the risk if they are doing that.
